Rebel Family. No one represents that better than Rebel alumni Wayne Nunnely. He played fullback for UNLV in 1972 and became the only Black head football coach in UNLV history and only alumnus to hold the position.
Nunnely went 19-25 from 1986 to 1989. These days that probably would've gotten him an extension, as no coach since has bettered his .432 winning percentage. He then went on to coach at USC and UCLA before a career in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers, and Denver Broncos.

Nunnley passed away in 2021, here is to honoring his legacy and place in history.
